FAQS

DOES BELLCOMB MAKE PROTOTYPES?

Yes, we do.  If you are a business or government agency and are developing a new product line, we have a proven methodology to determine the best path to a successful product launch!

HOW DO I PURCHASE CUSTOM PANELS?

To purchase custom panels, contact our sales staff by phone at (763) 537-0200 or click here. We accept Visa and MasterCard, and also offer credit terms to qualified clients.

WHAT ARE YOUR LEAD TIMES?

Custom panels generally take from 3 weeks to 6 weeks, depending on complexity, once the design is finalized.

HOW ARE YOUR PANELS SHIPPED?

Most of our products are shipped by common truck carrier on pallets. You can select the carrier of your choice, or we can make arrangements for you.

ARE YOUR PANELS AVAILABLE THROUGH DISTRIBUTORS?

Bellcomb products are sold direct from our factory in Minneapolis, MN. However, we do distribute a few products through McMaster-Carr. These panels are sold in sizes from 12" x 12" to 24" x 48" - ideal for rapid prototyping. See McMaster-Carr‘s online catalog page of Bellcomb panels here.

HOW MUCH DO YOUR PANELS COST?

Panel cost depends on the core and skin materials used in the panel, configuration and special features. As the majority of our products are custom designs, we do not have a standard price list. For a rough idea, the cost of many of our panels falls between $3 and $6 per square foot.

HOW DO I GET PRODUCT SAMPLES?

Sample kits are available to qualified prospects. What‘s in the kit depends on the nature of your application. Click here to request a sample kit.

WHAT ARE YOUR STANDARD SHEET SIZES?

Depending on which materials are selected, the most common sheet sizes are 4 ft x 8 ft, 4 ft x 10 ft, and 5 ft x 10 ft. Custom sizes are also available, depending on the availability of raw materials in the necessary size. For cost-efficiency we can also cut kits containing many different sizes out of standard size sheets. Joining multiple panels together can accommodate larger sizes. Find more information here.

WHAT ARE COMPOSITE PANELS USED FOR?

Composite panels can be used for any application that requires a lightweight, structural, and/or very flat, stable surface. Bellcomb supplies panels to over 70 industries, making us the supplier of choice to the market leaders of the world.  Common applications include:

  • Cleanroom enclosures
  • Elevator cars (floors, walls, ceilings)
  • Flooring
  • Maritime vessels (balconies, ceilings, doors, decking, bulkheads, cabinetry, furniture)
  • Rail cars (doors, decking, bulkheads, cabinetry, furniture)
  • Shelters
  • Vehicles (truck/trailer doors, flooring, sidewalls)
  • Interactive whiteboards and dry erase boards

HOW STRONG ARE YOUR PANELS?

The strength of any panel depends on the materials chosen and the geometry of the panel. Generally speaking, the structural properties of a panel increase exponentially as thickness increases. Find more information here.

HOW ARE THE EDGES OF PANELS CLOSED OUT?

Several edge closeout options are available. Learn more and see examples here.

HOW ARE PANELS ATTACHED TO EACH OTHER?

Panels are commonly attached together using extrusions, cam locks, or spline joints, along with various other methods. Our engineering design staff can assist you in determining the best attachment solution for your application. Find more information on panel joining methods here.

HOW IS HARDWARE ATTACHED TO PANELS?

The simplest method of producing an attachment point in a honeycomb panel is by placing a small block of solid material within the panel. Other methods include rivnuts and potted inserts. Find more information on attaching hardware here.
